NYT and WSJ readers, specifically web commentators, are such ignorant fashion haterzz. Go away. Why can’t we just enjoy great style and creativity? Fashion is here to stay and evolve and surprise and disgust. It can be superficial sometimes but aren’t we creatures of beauty anyway? What the hell is wrong with that?
So much rage. I want to look into this more..you know, attitudes toward fashion. That study is clearly going to lead me to living in Europe. Get over your appreciation for mass produced crap and appreciate the craft that goes into a well-made coat or evening gown. You’ll buy less and buy better. Idiots.
Just as an example from this article: “Those are some of the most hideous and disgustingly overpriced clothes I’ve ever seen. Anyone who pays that kind of money for clothes should be ashamed.”
Maybe they aren’t the most beautiful sweaters but who is this person to say that these clothes are worthless and that anyone who finds value in them is worthless too? Why is clothing so offensive? God. There are countless examples of people outright rejecting the the idea of creating or buying expensive things.
Look at the comments under this article about stylist Katie Grand….”Personally, I think some of the stuff out there is horrible. I just don’t get some of these stylists..bringing back gaudy uncomfortable attic wear”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How condescending. Grand is a professional and she has changed the way we see fashion for a reason. Attic wear! HAH. It’s back bitch..and aren’t you glad? How can you not be tired of what’s already in your closet? Don’t you feel the need to try something new once in a while?
I guess we are not all the same. Some people will appreciate the extra beads or thoughtful design and pay for it (considered excessive, why?!) Maybe someone else might spend thousands more on fast food, road trips, movies, and home redecorating, or alcohol, or whatever the fuck they find important. We all spend more than we should because we all value happiness. Some people find it more in dresses than new flat screen TVs. slkdjfasdf It’s really late and I know this isn’t very well-written and that’s because I’m still figuring it out. What do you think? Am I contradicting myself?
Drawing a bath..I’m hooked.
Just ran over a squirrel. Sadness! That was the first time I’ve ever physically killed something larger than an insect. I feel like a piece of shit ruining everything with my family and now actually ending lives. fuck.
My friend Bruce came over today for croissants and tea. He’s an inspired photographer and definitely one of the most honest people I’ve met in a while. It was time for me to be honest with him and not mess with his head. Though it was an emotional hour, the visit left me with quite a bit of hope in 2012 and in our friendship. Thank goodness.
Soon, I’m heading out to meet Emma and Maddie at Heine Bros for some coffee. We’ll likely venture over to Carmichael’s books and explore. It’s about time I get out of the house this break. Between working at Pitaya and being sick and planning some Midwest Fashion Week things, I’ve been operating through my computer and (new) phone. It’s not how I want to live haha.
—-later—-ended up seeing Tara and basically everyone else that matters in Louisville tonight. Just perfect.
Hope you are enjoying your holidays :)
